Financial aid awareness really needs a year-long celebration.
Even though February is the only official recognition of financial aid awareness, financial aid professionals and many others are observing it every day. In reality, there shouldn’t be only one month dedicated to financial aid awareness – it needs to be an everyday occurrence when working with students.
It is nice, however, that someone decided that there should be a month dedicated to creating awareness.
February is the time when we can encourage students to complete the FAFSA, explore options such as grants, scholarships, student loans, and work study to help finance their education, or visit with a financial aid professional about navigating and understanding the financial aid process.
Mapping Your Future can also help you in providing information to your students through its resources, including:
- Guide to Life After High School
- Calculators to manage college costs
- Success in College Guide
- Scholarship Tracking Spreadsheet
Although you may already be doing a lot to create awareness, we encourage you to share some of Mapping Your Future’s resources to help your current and future students. For many of us, pursuing an education would not have been possible without financial aid.
Hopefully, this month-long celebration will bring a year – no, a forever – recognition of what financial aid means to all of our lives.
