The Department of Education this month released more information about enhancements to the new foreign gifts and contracts reporting portal.

According to a December 3 Electronic Announcement, the new reporting portal will include a tailored, efficient, and institution-specific reporting process while maintaining compliance with Section 117.

Based on feedback from nine institutions of higher education (IHEs) that participated in the testing process, the Department of Education has incorporated many of the suggestions for improvement.

Key enhancements include:

  • Bulk Upload Capability –A feature that will streamline the submission of multiple reportable gifts and contracts.
  • Enhanced User-Defined Roles – A new feature that allows an institution greater internal control and workflow management.
  • Comprehensive Resources and Training – The Department is developing comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and a series training resources, including video to support the user in Section 117 reporting.
  • Defined User Roles – The new portal introduces defined user roles that will enhance internal workflow and oversight.

The Department reminds IHEs of the upcoming training, along with critical dates and access information:

The Electronic Announcement also includes information on current and future guidance and contact information for Technical/Access questions and Policy/Compliance questions.
