Students interested in pursuing a major in video games or computer science-related majors may want to look into some scholarship opportunities for these majors.
Scholarships enable students to pay for an education and avoid student loan debt. In addition, scholarships are recognition of a student’s accomplishments – something that can be included on a resume or lead to other opportunities.
Students may want to consider applying for some of the following scholarships programs:
Tencent America Scholarship – The Tencent America Scholarship program offers financial support for high school seniors pursing a video game-related major. Up to 10 awards of at least $5,000 each will be made. Applicants must be a United States citizen or permanent resident, a graduating high school senior (Class of 2026), plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or technical school for the upcoming academic year. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and plan to study a video game-related major with aspirations for a career in the gaming industry. Deadline: July 6 (at 3 p.m. Central Time)
Pega Scholars Program – The Pega Scholars Program offers scholarships to students pursuing a computer science or technology-related field directly aligned with computing, software, data, or information technology. Up to 15 awards of $2,000 each will be made. Applicants must complete high school or secondary school in 2026 and enroll part-time or full-time in an eligible undergraduate or bachelor’s degree program or be a current undergraduate student at the time of application or be a current CEGEP student at the time of application. Deadline: July 15 (at 3 p.m. Central Time)
