Happy Financial Aid Day 2026

Happenstance. It’s how many of us ended up working in financial aid.

As high school students, most of us did not list working in financial aid as a future career goal.

It may have been a work study position in college that became a full-time opportunity after graduation. Or in my case, a random job interview and a discussion about the similarities of my current job and working in a financial aid office.

So, it was probably happenstance that brought many people to this crazy, unpredictable, and often exhausting profession called financial aid.

With the challenges, changes, and additional requirements of the last few years – particularly this past year – it may cause some of you to question why you continue to work in the profession. That’s understandable. It hasn’t been easy.

But you have stayed in financial aid – maybe for a variety of different reasons.  Ultimately, however, you stayed because you care. You care for the students needing your help.

Some of those students may just be the ones who solve important world problems in the future – thanks to their education, which you helped make possible through financial aid.

Whatever brought you to the profession, we’re glad you’re here! Thank you for all you do, not only today but all year long.

Take a few minutes today to celebrate all you do and for whatever happenstance brought you to the community of financial aid.

We are eternally grateful.
